Nebraska’s 529 College Savings Plan Awards $10,000 to Essay Winners
Omaha, NE (July 18,2012) – First National Bank of Omaha and State Treasurer Don Stenberg today announced the winners of the Nebraska Educational Savings Trust (NEST) “Focus on a Career” essay contest. Ten students from across the state each received a $1,000 contribution deposited into a NEST College Savings Plan account.

The “Focus on a Career” essay contest was launched May 2 and ran through May 31. Nebraska students, ages 11-14, were asked to submit typed essays describing their first week in their desired careers. Entries were received from 133 students and judged by employees from Metropolitan Community College's Emerging Leaders program.
NEST is a tax-advantaged 529 college savings plan and provides four plans to help make saving for college simple and affordable: NEST Direct College Savings Plan, the NEST Advisor College Savings Plan, the TD Ameritrade 529 College Savings Plan, and the State Farm College Savings Plan.
